What happens when you come to the Crisis Walk-in Center?

Here is what you can expect when you visit the Crisis Walk-in Center.

  • Step 1 of 5: Upon arrival, you will be greeted by a peer support specialist, who will ask for some basic information to begin the intake process. This ensures we can direct you to the most appropriate support quickly.  The peer support will assist you in completing all registration paperwork, if help is needed.

  • Step 2 of 5: A trained mental health professional will meet with you in a private, comfortable space to begin an initial assessment.

  • Step 3 of 5: During the assessment, our staff will ask about your immediate concerns, safety, and any factors contributing to your crisis. This is done to understand your situation and identify the best course of action.

  • Step 4 of 5: Peer Support Specialists will be available to provide additional support, offering lived-experience guidance, emotional assistance, and help navigating resources. They will work alongside the clinical team to ensure you feel understood and supported throughout your visit.

  • Step 5 of 5: Based on the assessment, we will provide you with immediate support, such as de-escalation, crisis intervention, and, if needed, connections to other services like psychiatric care or community resources. If follow-up care is necessary, our team, including Peer Support, will coordinate the next steps, which may include scheduling an appointment with our urgent psychiatric care providers, connecting you to ongoing therapy, or arranging additional community support services.
